Mr. George leads the
operations and asset management of Invenergy’s growing
portfolio of more than 4,600 MW of wind and thermal power
plants. He has over 28 years of broad experience in the
power industry including engineering, construction, project
development, commissioning, operations and asset management
in a variety of fuel sources such as wind, natural gas, oil, coal,
biomass and nuclear. Over his career, he has led the
commissioning, operation and asset management of more than
5,600 MW of natural gas generation and 1,800 MW of wind
generation.
Prior to joining Invenergy
in November 2002, Mr. George was Vice President of
Operations and Asset Management at Calpine following the
sale of SkyGen to Calpine in October 2000. As one of
the original team members of SkyGen in 1992, Mr. George was
Vice President of Operations and Asset Management. He had
direct responsibility for building SkyGen Services, SkyGen’s
facility management subsidiary, into a staff of over 100
corporate and operations personnel. SkyGen Services was
responsible for construction, commissioning, operations and
asset management of SkyGen’s
portfolio of more
than 2,800 MWs of thermal generation.
Before joining SkyGen in
1992, Mr. George spent nine years as a professional engineer
in the design and construction of power generation
facilities at both CRS Sirrine Engineers and Sargent &
Lundy.
Education: MBA from the
University of Illinois at Chicago; BS in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Illinois.
