Corporate Safety Manager - Chicago, IL

 

Invenergy LLC, a developer, owner and operator of renewable and natural gas power generation facilities, headquartered in downtown Chicago, is seeking an energetic Corporate Safety Manager. The position is based at Invenergy’s headquarters in Chicago, IL.

The individual will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and expertise in the development of appropriate health and safety policies, standards and procedures. The individual will work with multiple energy facilities throughout the United States. 

Responsibilities will include the following:

·    Oversee with the development, implementation and communication of corporate health and safety policies.

·    Collaborate with multiple business units to institute control and remedial measures to insure the safety and well-being of all plant employees.

·    Support the maintenance of the EHS Compliance System for facilities throughout the United States.

·    Conduct H&S training on prescribed issues.

·    Maintain the web-based training program and training logs for the applicable energy facilities.

·    Maintain internal EHS audit records and prepare reports for management review.

·    Function as the leader of the companywide EHS Committee.

Qualifications include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.

  • Minimum of five years of related experience in a plant environment; preferably in the power generation industry.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or an equivalent professional designation is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Federal and state regulations regarding EHS matters, preferably those specific to the power generation industry.

  • Travel 20% - 30% of the time to energy facilities.

  • Strong background in H&S policies, procedures and plans, specifically: LOTO, electrical safety, fall protection, confined space entry, lifting/crane operations

  • High degree of initiative and ability to work well with minimal oversight.

  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Strong project management skills.
