Manager of Tax
 

Invenergy LLC, a developer, owner and operator of renewable and thermal power generation facilities, located in the downtown Chicago, is currently looking to hire a Manager of Tax. The incumbent will be responsible for domestic and international tax research and compliance for various entities, operating and construction and development projects.  This position is located in our Chicago (downtown), IL office and reports to the Director of Tax. 

 

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Prepare and review tax returns for regarded and disregarded entities, as well as manage outsourcing of tax preparation.

  • Provide tax research and advice to all levels of management on a variety of business tax issues (both domestic and foreign).

  • Assist in FAS 109 reporting and tax accounting, including FIN 48.

  • Coordinate and review preparation of international tax filings including forms 5471, 8858, 8865, etc.

  • Assist in review and implementation of tax provisions within partnership agreements.

  • Assist in foreign tax credit and overall foreign loss compliance and support.

  • Develop, review and revise tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal tax laws.

  • Analyze tax law and apply that expertise to our business.

  • Review depreciation and tax sections of development project models.

  • Compare actual tax results to modeled projections.

  • Able to clearly communicate complex tax concepts both verbally and in writing.

  • Assist with developing data for tax audits, respond to related tax inquiries and notices.

Job Requirements:

  •   Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent.  Accounting or Finance major preferred.

  • Tax experience of 7 + years with CPA firm or industry.

  • CPA preferred with experience in the Energy/Utilities sector, real estate partnership or similar environment.

  •  Experience in partnership tax law preferred.

  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties, as assigned.

  •  Exceptional technical skills and analytical capabilities with strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with software and system applications (Excel, MS Word, etc.) and ability to learn internal applications.

  • Desire and aptitude to learn and understand the Energy/ Utilities Industry.
